making American schools healthy, one child at a time

Need something sweet after a nutritious and delightful meal? Don't reach for a plate of chocolate chip cookies or a bowl of brownies. Instead, try baking something sweet and yummy, but at the same time very healthy. Homemade oatmeal cookies are a great dessert to satisfy your sugar cravings.

For these Oatmeal Cookies you will need:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 cup of mixed nuts and raisins
  • 1 bowl and 1 mixing spoon
  • 1 blender
  • Baking spray
  • Baking pan

Making the Oatmeal Cookies:

(Please do this with your parents permission!)

  1. Peel 2 ripe bananas and place them in a bowl
  2. Take a mixing spoon and mash the bananas
  3. Take 1 cup of oats and blend them in a blender for about 15-20 seconds.
  4. Pour the blended oats with your mashed bananas and mix
  5. Mix in your nuts and raisins
  6. Spray your baking pan with baking spray
  7. Make your "cookie dough" into round spheres, place them on the plan, and flatten them
  8. Pop them into the oven at 350 degrees for about 20-25 minutes
  9. Take your cookies out and enjoy!
